We are thinking about getting one for the family. The boys are 15, 13(almost 14), and 8. The girl is 10 and not really a factor.
15 - into heavy metal but, IM, and message boards. Used to play Runescape on the 'net.
13 - into sports. We got Madden 08 for the Game Cube, the last release that will come out, and were disappointed. This is what made my wife say we should get a system that has stuff available. Especially with the Guitar Hero craze being available on PS3.
15 & 13 literally have two T-rated games. Tony Hawk and James Bond. We don't let the eight-year old play them and only sometimes watch. So M-rated games are probably not a concern. Maybe in a year or two we'll relax a bit.
8 - into Build A Bear. He likes sports video games. Used to Mario games and all of that would go away. Too bad the Wii is twice the money, tens time as scarce, and the 15-year old no longer wants one.
Are there good kids games for PS2? Now this will only be for a few years as then everyone will have outgrown them.
Don't we get a DVD player?
Any other features?
Would it hook up well to our main TV? It is an old school 26-inch with a 35-watt receiver. We use a Recoton four-way switcher with a/v(RCA) inputs.
