There used to be a thread on this but I don't see it now. I used to use Cinema Forge Lite to download the videos but that program doesn't seem to work anymore. I've seen where others have had trouble with it too. So, my question is, what's a good program to use to download YouTube videos?

Some people love it, some people avoid it like the plague, but I've found that the new version of Real Player does a nice job of downloading LOTS of video types, including You Tube FLV files.

Has that one started working again? I used to use that link all the time, and then it quit working for me for the YouTube videos.
I like the Real Player thing, because it puts a tab right up at the upper edge of the video that says "Download This Video" and you can do it right from there without having to go someplace else to plug in a URL to get it. Like so:

Very handy. :)

try www.mediaconverter.org. You can convert them right online and all you have to do is download the finished file.

I copy the file from my Temporary Internet Files Folder, rename it, and add '.flv' on the end of the file name - this makes it play in most of my media players.
To assist me, I keep a short cut to my Temporary Internet Files folder on my desktop.
This can get a bit messy if there are several Youtube files in there - they all get re-labelled as they get copied to the same file name, so only one can be copied at a time and then renamed before dragging/copying another.
If I cannot recall which file it is, I just add the '.flv' to the end and play it, then close it and rename it.
This may sound complicated, but it is not particularly hard once you have done it once or twice.

There are several different extensions for Firefox that will download embedded video. I have Unplug, Media Pirate, and Down Them All installed on my Firefox.
I haven't used them in a long while, though, so I can't vouch for their effectiveness.

That's the one I used for the longest time, the plug in for Firefox, then it quit working, it always told me it couldn't find the YouTube vid I was trying to download. So I gave up on it. Have they fixed it?
Of course, when it worked, it worked great when I'm actually in Firefox, but half the time I still use IE. Real Player works great in both browsers, another reason why I like it. :P

I already had Real Player but I downloaded an updated version and like you said Karen, it works great!;)

Is there anyway to DL them with Windows Media? That's the program I use to load music to my brother's MP3 player and we havent been able to figure out how to DL vids from youtube on there yet.
Any suggestions?

You'd probably have to convert the video file into a format the MP3 player can use. I don't know of any MP3 players that support video in FLV format, which is how they come when you steal them from YouTube. You'll need to have a video converting program in order to do this.

Also Iv'e found that with the latest RealPlayer you should be able to too. When you view any kind of video and what not RP should have a little tab up in the right top corner of the video that says "Download this clip"

RealPlayer is one of the most dangerous programs to have on your computer if you care about privacy. I won't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

Actually you were the "some people avoid it like the plague" person ;) I actually thought about first when I posted this earlier:

I've got a trifecta of Real Stuff all over my PC (Real Player, Real Producer basic, and I spend a lot of time playing Real Arcade games), but do go into the preferences and disable all the info sharing options that I can see to turn off. So hopefully that helps somewhat.
By the way, love the new avatar... NOW we know why the Leaning Tower of Pisa is leaning, it's actually not, it's just italicized! :D

They were sold on Etsy.com, but they are sold out. (bummer. :( ) This is the shop/artist(s) (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=46069) who produced them. I'm thinking about sending them a message to see if they are planning on making any more of them.

Oh my. Thanks for the link, there goes part of my tax refund! :P Even without the "Head - /Head" earrings, they've got some GREAT stuff there.
Heh heh... just read their description: "Make sure you don't walk around without a properly formatted Head..." :D
*... stops... thinks...* What WAS this thread originally about anyway?
