View Full Version : Guitar Brand Question
Hey all,
My girlfriend is currently learning how to play guitar, and I want to get her a new one for her Birthday. She's been attracted to the "Daisy Rock" guitar brand, because they're sparkly (lol).
So I was just wondering if anybody here had any experience with this brand, and if so, was it good or bad?
Thanks,
Jake

By the cost they seem to either be quality, making money off the genre, or a combination of both.

Thanks a lot, rossid. I think we're going to go with one of these from Musicians' Friend. If you're not totally satisfied with their stuff after 45 days, you can send it back, so there's really no risk. But thanks for the articles.
electric or acoustic?
I bought my 10 year old daughter a Daisy Rock acoustic because it's a good starter guitar and plays almost as easy as an electric. Doesn't sound good or stay in tune well though. I don't know about their electrics other than playing them in store, but they didn't seem any better. Nothing is worse than a guitar that won't keep tune. If she's already sure she will continue playing I'd suggest a little higher quality, if you can afford it. I have a low end ($400) Martin that sound great, plays great, and stays in tune better than any guitar I have ever had including the high end guitars. It's like having a $1000 guitar, though I have added a pick up to it.

I would recommend Ibanez. Even their cheap entry level electrics are pretty good quality.
I would also recommend an electric. Electrics are easier on the fingers, which means you can practice longer, which means you'll get better faster, and not give up because your hands hurt.
I had a Taylor 710ce at one point (a $2700 acoustic guitar) and one of the very best, in my opinion. And even that one was way harder to play than my $400 (12 year old) Ibanez.
I tried to learn on a cheap acoustic. I gave up.
I later learned on a cheap electric. I have been playing 12 years, and have completely overhauled my cheap electric I learned on, and still love playing it.

Yep, I had one of these and it wasn't bad at all

My first electric was an 1984 Ibanez Roadstar 2. They are very good entry level guitars.
A buddy of mine owns a guitar store and I called him today and asked. He told me the higher end Daisy Rock guitars would be really good for her. He ordered me one, and is giving it to me at dealer cost, so I'm getting quite a deal on it. But thanks for all the help, folks.

The body and pickups on these Ibanez are very similar.

Do you mean mine vs. the one BVC posted? His is an HSH and mine is just an HH. Aside from that, they are the same body I think.
Mine is an RG-320dx for what it's worth. I don't think they make that specific one anymore. Though they make many similar models.
