They played the equivalent to the Ryder Cup today. It was North America vs Europe. There were Americans on the teams. Seriously.... next to football it's my favorite sport. I watched 3.5 hours of it today!

I've got my son's iPod on and this comes on - 'Canadian Idiot' by Weird Al Yankovic (parody of Green Day's 'American Idiot')
Don't want to be a Canadian idiot
Dont want to be some beer swillin' hockey nut
and do I look like some frost bitten hosehead?
I never learned my alphabet from A to Zed
They all live on donuts and moose meat
and they leave the house without packin' heat
never even bring their guns to the mall.
And you know what else is too funny?
Their stupid monopoly money.
Can't take 'em seriously at all..
Well maple syrup and snow's what they export,
they treat curling just like it's a real sport.
They think their silly accent is so cute,
'can't understand a thing they're talking aboot
[Canadian Idiot lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]
Sure, they got their national health care,
cheaper meds, low crime rates and clean air..
Then again well they got Celine Dion..
Eat their weight in kraft macaroni
and dream of driving a zamboni
all over Saskatchewan.
Don't want to be a Canadian idiot.
Won't figure out the temperature in Celsius.
See the map they're hovering right over us!
Tell you the truth it makes me kinda nervous..
Always hear the same kind of story,
break their nose and they'll just say 'sorry'.
Tell me what kind of freaks are that polite?
It's gotta mean they're all up to something!
So quick before they see it coming,
time for a pre-emptive strike.

Just saw this thread. My daughter was in the youth curling league in BG on Sunday's this past fall. But, not interested in continuing. :(
I've never tried it myself, but see others playing when we're at the ice arena. We go to the BGSU hockey games and my son plays hockey.
It is an interesting sport to watch. Maybe someday I'll try it.

Hey Sandy,
Did you hear about the latest renovations to the ice arena? It appears that they plan to convert the curling ice to be a multi-use ice. Meaning that they will be figure skating and playing hockey on the curling ice. They say that they have a way to make the ice smooth enough to curl even after the figure skaters have dug their toe picks into it. (They are trying to tell us that Miami does this at their new facility).
They say that the curling ice is not used enough and only brings in $40,000 per yr in revenue. So, its not cost effective to keep it just for curling.

She's a redneck... you're lucky she didn't spell it "dewl"! :P
I'm just a redhead, not a redneck. :D
lmbo! You are so right! Silly? Really - I was being serious.....or at least as serious as I can possibly be. Which, come to think of it, I am really never serious. Not really. Nope. lol
Duel - rhymes with fuel. When you say duel - don't you use 2 syllables? I do. Is that wrong? Have I been saying and spelling it wrong my entire life? Since birth? :o :D
and again......
I resemble that comment! How dare you!
*whips out white glove to slap with and declares a dual!*
I haven't known you since birth so how could I know how you spelled back then? :P :D
At times like this I'm glad I'm an only child. :D

Did anyone (but me) catch the Scotties Tournament of Hearts this weekend? Awesome tourny. Jennifer Jones ended up winning on a steal in the 10th end. It was a great 2 days of curling!!!

That depends, was Porter watching it too? If not then I'd say you were probably the only one on here who watched it.
