OK..here's the deal...

Sometimes when I'm watching a DVD the picture from the DVD will disappear and whatever's playing on the channel on the television will show on the TV but I'm still getting the audio from the DVD....it's driving me crazy!!

What could be going on???

Just off the top of my head?

Loose video cable, maybe. Or maybe a broken wire within said video cable.

What kind of connections are you using? RCA? S-Video? HDMI?

That would be the first thing I'd check T. If that doesn't work you could always go for a good, old-fashioned love tap! :P

I tried the good old-fashioned "love tap"....but it didn't work and I wanted to "love tap" it out the window....

Dad's gonna get some new cables and try them out tomorrow...I hope it works...I had an itch to watch "Absolute Evel: The Evel Knievel Story" and the new "Transformers" DVDs today but wasn't able to do that due to this very irritating little problem....

(Yes, I get very annoyed at things like this very easily....)

Percussive Maintenance, it works for ME! :D

If you're using S-Video (looks something like this)

89564

it's possible that maybe some of the pins in the plug could have gotten bent and aren't making a very good connection.

So I'd say check your connections, make sure they've not come loose, if they seem snug, check for bent pins, and if those look good, try a different cable.

Karen,

That looks to be what is on the back of the player and the home theatre receiver...Dad's gonna check it out in the morning and see if he can get another set of wires...I actually need to rewire everything cuz I've also got some bad speaker wire as well...

Now THAT sounds like a project to wait for the weekend. At least it would be at our house. We've got one of those heavy duty three section, go almost to the ceiling wall units that take up a whole side of our living room, and hooking up the electronics was just a huge pain in the butt, trying to get all the cables run behind it.

Hopefully your project will be a little easier than that. :)

Karen,

The wires were the problem. I'm sitting here watching the DVD I wanted to watch no problem whatsoever...it's so nice to know that there are people who I can rely on to help me solve these kinds of problems...

Thank you everyone for their advice...you guys rock!!

Love y'all!!

(sorry for all the love...I'm just feeling sentimental since it's the Christmas holiday and I'm missing some very beloved important people in my life that I've lost this year and there's just been an overwhelming sense of sadness that has enveloped me--and I can't shake it for some reason-just pray for me).

Yesterday was a good day for me for the first time in a long time (actually, last night, to be exact--the gig went really well and I enjoyed it for the first time in months). The show went wonderful and I had a ball!! I was actually more "at" myself than I had been in monthts. I'm gonna copy and past this last part into the P&P
Once again, thank you for all your help and support and love...

*HUGS* & LOVE TO ALL*
