You will need to make sure computer has a wireless card. If you have a laptop you should, if you have a desktop, you may need to purchase one...

In terms of how fast the speeds that you can see will really depend on the Facilities connection. usually at 802.11g Your network will run faster than most consumer highspeed options...

Eitherway as long as your facility has fast enough speeds you should be able to watch webcasts of my church Mosaic Church (http://mosaicchurch.wordpress.co m/)

Well I am guessing that your Facility is setting up the wireless network w/ the internet. So They would be providing the internet service..

What this means to you, is that you may no longer need your dial up account. But that would be something you would want to discuss with the facility.

And again, depending on the speed that they (your facility gets) you may or may not experience speeds faster than consumer DSL. Also keep in mind that if it's wireless, anyone in the facility with a wireless conncection will be using that bandwith as well...

But just so long as your connection is fast enough to enjoy those webcasts.. ;)

The good thing is it will probably just be me and the administrators who will mostly be using it. And in the middle of the night, possibly just me. Woohoo. Lots of bandwidth all to myself! (to watch your church webcasts, of course)

Of, course, you have to also take into account that bandwidth is not the only factor in downloading the internet - what with Googols of kilobytes (Googolbytes?) of data you will need more hard drive space...

Another bit of advice - once you have downloaded it and perused it to your heart's content, remember to hold down the shift key when you delete it, or it will crash your recycle bin!

...and if I go online to check my favourite forum it had better still be there - no deleting it - remember to email a copy of the internet to Bill gates so he can keep a back up.

Jason, also remember that your new network card, if you buy one, should be of the "g" type, or its predecessor, the "b" type. It goes like this, from oldest to newest: a, b, g, n. So if your place is putting in a 'g' network, then it is backward compatible and you can use g or even b (you probably cannot find "a" anywhere).

Yes, this is true. It is very complicated, but basically, the 'b' network card has thinner wires inside than a 'g' network card and the larger packets of data slow down when squeezed through the wires.






I have also heard that you will need to get a small computer technician in to grease the insides of the network cables so that the packets, which will be travelling at a higher speed do not cause friction.







Trust me, I know all about this new technology, I was born before 1980, when they were still using elves inside computers.
